He begged and pleaded with many, trying to persuade and arouse pity.

הִתְחַנֵּן רַבּוֹת .בִּקֵּשׁ וְנִסָּה לְשַׁכְנֵעַ וּלְעוֹרֵר רַחֲמִים.
