Every study hall or educational institution worthy of its name must continually renew itself and advance with new insights and discoveries.

בֵּית הַמִּדְרָשׁ הָרָאוּי לִשְׁמוֹ וְכֵן כָּל מוֹסָד לִמּוּדִי חַיָּב לְהִתְחַדֵּשׁ וּלְהִתְקַדֵּם בְּגִלּוּיֵי יֶדַע חֲדָשִׁים.
("אָמַר לָהֶם: מָה חִדּוּשׁ הָיָה בַּבַּיִת הַמִּדְרָשׁ הַיּוֹם? אָמְרוּ לוֹ: תַּלְמִידֶיךָ אָנוּ, וּמִיָּמֶיךָ אָנוּ שֶׁוָּתִין. אָמַר לָהֶם: אַף עַל פִּי כֵּן, אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְבַיִת הַמִּדְרָשׁ בְּלֹא חִדּוּשׁ"-חֲגִיגָה ג ע"ב, וְכֵן:"וּמָה שֶׁבָּאתִי עַתָּה בִּדְבָרִים הַהֵם אֲשֶׁר כְּבָר הֶאֱרַכְתִּי בָּהֶם בַּדְּרוּשׁ 'אַהֲבָה פְּנִימִית', מִפְּנֵי כִּי אֵין מִדְרַשׁ בְּלֹא חִדּוּשׁ"- שְׁלָ"ה עֲשָׂרָה מַאֲמָרוֹת מַאֲמָר שִׁשִּׁי)
