Smouldering brands / feeble and hopeless persons
Coals that still emit smoke. Figuratively: a term for places left desolate after disaster (a metaphor for burnt fragments or pieces of wood that still smolder with faint fire and smoke).

גֶּחָלִים שֶׁעֲדַיִן מַעֲלִים עָשָׁן. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: כִּנּוּי לִמְקוֹמוֹת שֶׁנּוֹתְרוּ חֲרֵבִים לְאַחַר אָסוֹן (דִּמּוּי לַגֶּחָלִים אוֹ פִּסּוֹת עֵץ שֶׁעֲדַיִן בּוֹעֶרֶת בָּהֶם אֵשׁ קְטַנָּה וְהֵם מַעֲלִים עָשָׁן).
