To leave with nothing in one's hands. Figuratively: to come away at a loss, with no gain. To fail to achieve a result despite one's efforts.

יָצָא לְלֹא כְּלוּם בְּיָדָיו. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: יָצָא מֻופְסָד לְלֹא רֶוַוח. לֹא הִשִּׂיג תּוֹצָאָה לַמְרוֹת מַאֲמַצָּיו.
