Days of the Summer

The summer months. Or: the number of days in the year.

(“Our Rabbis taught: One may draw wine through pipes before a groom and before a bride, and they may throw roasted grains and nuts before them in the days of the sun, but not in the rainy days; but not gluskaot—neither in the days of the sun nor in the rainy days” (Berakhot 50b). And likewise: “I hung on it three hundred and sixty-five thousand myriads of stars, corresponding to the days of the sun—and I created them all only for your sake, yet you said, ‘You have forsaken me and forgotten me?’” (Berachot 58b). And likewise: “Thus the days of the sun passed, and the last days of Elul arrived” (Agnon, City and Fullness, 9).)
