אֵין חֲלוֹם בְּלֹא דְּבָרִים בְּטֵלִים, אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְחָלוֹם בְּלֹא דְּבָרִים בְּטֵלִים

("The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the straw to the grain? says the Lord." (Jeremiah 23:28) – And what is the connection between grain and straw and a dream? Rabbi Yohanan said in the name of Rabbi Shimon ben Yohai: Just as it is impossible for grain to exist without straw, so it is impossible for a dream to exist without idle matters.
