By metaphor: great and important matters based on minimal foundations. Or: lofty ideas or notions insufficiently grounded. Things that are unstable and liable to collapse at any moment.

("The mountain of vows is like a cloud in the air, and they have nothing to rely on. The journeys of the Sabbath, the feasts, and the mountaintops are like the mountains hanging from its peak - which have little reading and many journeys. The law and the pure and impure and unclean works are there for them, on whom they rely; they are the bodies of the Torah" - Feast 1:8, and so: "And the mountains Light and simple things - and what is the holy house that is seen with the eyes and measured by the hand of a man whose eyes and heart and ears are directed, the words of the Torah that are like the mountains hanging on a hair on one side and on the other" - Shimon, the listener of the Torah, will gather the interpretation of our ear, a hint, and so: "How many mountains hanging on a hair, when they saw it with the mouth of their mouth, "All on the path to the well of this small word" - One of the people/ Past and Future)
