When a person gives a coin to a poor man – he merits to receive the divine presence.

When a person gives a coin to a poor man – he merits to receive the divine presence.

Acts of kindness are rewarded with spiritual rewards.

("A person brings a great gift to the king – perhaps they accept it, perhaps they do not, and if one finds reason to say they accept it – perhaps he sees the king’s face, perhaps he does not see the king’s face. But the Holy One, blessed be He, is not so: when a person gives a coin to the poor – he merits and receives the Divine Presence’s face, as it is said (Psalms 17) 'I shall see Your face in righteousness'" – Baba Batra 10a)
