An Unpaved Path
A path that has not been prepared for walking. A problematic and uncomfortable path to walk on. By analogy: bad behavior. A direction full of obstacles or unexpected difficulties.
(For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water; and have stumbled them in their ways, to walk in the paths of an unpaved road forever - Jeremiah 18:15)
