To unroll the Scroll of the Law

To roll or unroll the Sefer Torah, which is written on parchment sheets wound around wooden rollers.

(An incident with one chazzan who read from the portion Parah Adumah and ruled to convert the ger within them as a perpetual statute. He unrolled the Scroll of the Law and sat in his place - Machzor Vitri, section 280.)

גַּלְגַּל אוֹ כָּרַךְ אֶת סֵפֶר הַתּוֹרָה הַכָּתוּב עַל פְּנֵי יְרִיעוֹת הַכְּרוּכוֹת סְבִיב מוֹטוֹת עֵץ.
