If you have studied much Torah, do not credit yourself!
Do not be smug or excessively self-assured if you have studied much. You have only done your duty, for learning and gaining knowledge are among a person's purposes, and there is no reason for pride on this account.

אַל תִּהְיֶה בִּזְחִיחוּת דַּעַת אוֹ בְּבִטָּחוֹן עַצְמִי מֻפְרָז אִם לָמַדְתָּ הַרְבֵּה. עָשִׂיתָ אֶת הַמֻּטָּל עָלֶיךָ, כִּי הַלִּמּוּד וְהַהַשְׂכָּלָה הֵם אֶחָד מִיְּעוּדֵי הָאָדָם וְאֵין לָחוּשׁ גַּאֲוָה בְּשֶׁל כָּךְ.
