Woe to me that I have seen you like this
I am very distressed to see you in such a difficult state. I share in your pain.
("It was said about Rabbi Chacham Tzadok that he was pleasing before God, and he never uttered a curse against his fellow. When the Roman emperor commanded not to study Torah, what did Rabbi Chacham Tzadok do? He gathered congregations publicly and sat in the markets of Rome, learning, engaging, and teaching Torah. The emperor ordered him to be wrapped in a Torah scroll and burned. They took the scroll, wrapped him, lit the fire, and placed wool and sponges soaked in water on his heart so that his soul would not depart quickly. His daughter stood and said: 'Woe to me, father, that I have seen you like this.' And he replied to her: 'It is good for me, my daughter, that you have seen me thus.'" – Shabbat 33b)
