Figuratively: hands tend to touch and feel.
("The sages say: A person may sleep in tefillin for an incidental nap, but not for a fixed sleep... One who comes to sleep by day may, if he wishes, remove them; if he wishes, keep them on. At night, he removes them and does not put them on... If he forgot and had marital relations while wearing tefillin, he must not hold either the straps or the casing until he washes his hands and takes them, because hands are busy" — Sukkah 26b.
