Sit on his lap or close to him (lap means the distance between the chest and the arms).

יָשַׁב עַל בִּרְכָּיו אוֹ בְּצָמוּד אֵלָיו (חֵיק מַשְׁמָע הָרֶוַוח שֶׁבֵּין הֶחָזֶה וּבֵין זְרוֹעוֹת הַיָּדַיִים).
