One does not investigate regarding food
When a person asks for food to eat, there is no need to investigate whether he is pretending to be poor; rather, one should give him food.
("When you see the naked, cover him (Isaiah 58) – as soon as you see. And Rav Yehuda said: One investigates for clothing, but one does not investigate for food" – Bava Batra 9a)
