To separate (come between) friends
To separate people who were connected and attached is contempt. To cause a separation between two things that were connected to each other.

הִפְרִיד בֵּין אֲנָשִׁים שֶׁהָיוּ קְשׁוּרִים וּדְבוּקִים זֶה בָּזֶה. גָּרַם לְפֵרוּד בֵּין שְׁנֵי דְּבָרִים שֶׁהָיוּ קְשׁוּרִים זֶה לָזֶה.
