Sat despondent

Sat sad and wretched; or sat idle and inactive. In its original sense, it can mean bewildered or ruined.

("And I came to the exiles at Tel Aviv, who dwelt by the River Chebar, and I sat there among them seven days, despondent among them" - Ezekiel 3:15, and also: "And I sat there on the bank of the river, from heaven, my eyes in the water and my head bowed under the burden of its darkness" - H.N. יָשַׁב עָצוּב וְאֻומְלָל. אוֹ: יָשַׁב חֲסַר מַעַשׂ (בְּמָקוֹר מִשָּׁמַיִם מַשְׁמָע מְבֹוהָל, הָרוּס).
