Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement/ the Day of Atonement

A holiday that begins on the 10th of Tishrei, during which it is customary to fast and pray. A day on which, according to tradition, God judges all creatures of the world.

("But on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall afflict yourselves and bring an offering to the LORD" - Leviticus 23:27, thus: "All vows and prohibitions and oaths and dedications and vows and nicknames, that we have vowed and sworn and consecrated and prohibited upon ourselves. From this Yom Kippur until the next Yom Kippur, may it come upon us for good" - the "Kol Nidrei" prayer recited on the night of the holiday)
