Metaphorically: a person of stability and firmness, firmly planted in place. The opposite of the expression “like a tree whose roots are few.”

(“To what is one whose wisdom exceeds his deeds comparable? To a tree whose branches are many and whose roots are few; the wind comes and uproots it and turns it over on its face... But one whose deeds exceed his wisdom is comparable to a tree whose branches are few and whose roots are many, so that even if all the winds in the world come and blow against it, they cannot move it from its place, as it is said (Jeremiah 17): ‘He shall be like a tree planted by water’” - Avot 3:17, and also: “At first Isaac seems like a tree whose roots are few, since every ordinary wind uproots it and turns it over on its face...
