טוֹבָה צִפָּרְנָם שֶׁל רִאשׁוֹנִים מְכַרְסֵם שֶׁל אַחֲרוֹנִים
בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: הַדּוֹרוֹת הַקּוֹדְמִים עוֹלִים בְּהַרְבֵּה בִּגְדֻולָּתָם עַל הַדּוֹרוֹת הָאַחֲרוֹנִים.

By way of analogy: the earlier generations are far greater in stature than the later generations.
