הגדרה (אנגלית)

Open your home to guests so that even poor people can stay there as if they were members of the household. A call for a high moral standard of hosting those in need.

("Yosi ben Yochanan, a man of Jerusalem, says: Let your house be open wide, and let the poor be members of your household" — Pirkei Avot 1:5). Likewise: "It is better for a person to take great effort so that Israel may be supported from his possessions, and let the poor be members of his household, and charity will be counted to him when he gives his money" — Pele Yoetz / Ot Shin, Shemesh.
